Paul Jacobazzi



Paul is a Member and Director of Tax Services of CST Tax Advisors Chicago.

Paul is responsible for the technical review and quality control of all aspects of the firm’s tax services. In addition to his oversight responsibilities, Paul focuses on research and planning with respect to partnership taxation, taxation of financial instruments, and international and cross-border tax and withholding issues. Paul also consults with clients on tax efficient structuring of financial transactions, partnership structuring and compensation issues, as well as state taxation as it impacts the hedge fund and proprietary trading businesses.

Paul brings over 30 years of tax and accounting experience as he counsels clients with tax planning, accounting analysis, tax controversy issues, treasury operations, debt restructuring, financial analysis, and due diligence work for acquisitions. Paul’s previous role was as a Tax Practice Leader in the Securities and Commodities Practice of Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLC). In that role, he was involved with handling tax and accounting issues encountered by broker-dealers, futures commission merchants, and individual market makers at the various Chicago exchanges.

Paul also has experience in both corporate and international taxation, most recently having set-up a U.S. cross-border group in Montreal, Canada for Deloitte & Touche, LLP. He also has served as a Principal in a small local CPA firm which serviced individual and corporate clients in the securities and commodities industry. Paul’s experience extends to corporate taxation, including preparation of consolidated corporate income tax returns. In addition, Paul has experience working with financially distressed companies, overseeing tax compliance and research for a major retail establishment and nationwide operations under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Paul is a registered CPA who completed his undergraduate degree with a B.S. in Accounting from Loyola University in 1978 and earned his Master of Science in Taxation from DePaul University in 1985. Paul is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois CPA Society, the Managed Funds Association and the Hedge Fund Association.
