CST Tax Advisors congratulates its client – Mile Jedinak, Captain of the Socceroos for leading Australia to a memorable win in the Asian Cup Final 2015. A thrilling extra-time victory at Stadium Australia over South Korea has handed Australia the country’s first Asian Cup crown.
South Korea and Australia fought hard for much of the first-half but the green and gold led 1-0 at the break, thanks to a sublime strike from Massimo Luongo. It stayed that way until the 91st minute, until Heung-Min Son hit back with a late, and potentially heart breaking equaliser. The Socceroos cast aside the agony of a last-minute equaliser from Son Heung Min to come back and win it again.
Less than a decade after joining the Asian confederation, and at their third attempt, this nascent team’s name is etched into sporting history, with Jedinak, Luongo and Troisi cast as the heroes. An inspired leadership performance from Captain Mile Jedinak in the mid field ensured that Australia maintained its possessions and kept its defence in tact.
The players themselves appeared a little bleary-eyed at a victory parade on Sunday 1st February in Sydney. Captain Mile Jedinak said the team had celebrated into the early hours of this morning. “We did it in style on the park, and we did the same afterwards, so I’m proud of all the guys,” Jedinak said. “Through the whole campaign we’ve been ‘one in all in’ and it was the same last night,” he said.
Postecoglou and the Socceroos players said they were ready to take on the world, and were full of praise for the Australian fans. “Having everyone there last night and having everyone here today, look at this. This is just incredible,” Jedinak said. “We love you guys. Thank you for supporting this team.”
Jedinak was born in Sydney and played youth football with Sydney United before starting his senior career at the club. Following the loan spells at Varteks and South Coast United, Jedinak moved to Central Coast Mariners in 2006. He next played in Turkey, for Gençlerbirliği and Antalyaspor on loan before joining Crystal Palace and subsequently playing a role in the club earning promotion to the Premier League.
Jedinak has made over 50 appearances for the Australian national team, scoring seven goals. This includes participation in the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups. He has also played at two AFC Asian Cups, captaining Australia to victory on home soil in the 2015 edition.
CST Tax Advisors Founding Director John Marcarian caught up with Mile at the post game function where John had the opportunity of celebrating with Mile and some of the Socceroos.
